The Bioinformatics Core (BIC) at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City (Manhattan) is seeking a Systems Administrator to perform systems administration in an academic research environment. Systems administration will be performed in concert with one full-time and one part-time systems administrator.
Responsibilities:
- Administer Linux systems.
- Install, configure and update operating systems, databases and software packages.
- Monitor and troubleshoot systems operations, including a Linux HPC cluster, email and web servers.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree, or equivalent, and 5 years of relevant experience, required.
- Experience with High performance computing, Network security, Postfix, Apache, Tomcat, Grid Engine and familiarity with bioinformatics desirable.
- Experience with Mac OS X and Windows desirable.
BIC facilitates scientific discoveries by supporting basic and clinical research groups. BIC is responsible for building training programs, research project support, web-based tools, a high performance computing facility and database integration of genomic, pathway and clinical information.
